A Hockey Game Worth $35K

Prostate cancer. It’s the most common form of cancer found in men, and one of the leading causes of death. In Canada, it’s estimated that one out of eight men will be diagnosed within their lifetime. In the U.S., those odds are similar with one in seven at risk.
The construction industry recently did its part to help raise awareness and funds for Prostate Cancer Canada at the third annual Aecon Cup. The hockey tournament was held over two days in April in Cambridge, Ontario. Kiewit was well-represented and placed first in the B Division.
Employees from Kiewit’s Oakville, Ontario, office and projects in the region were drafted to the team. Other companies that took part in the tournament included Sun Belt Rentals, Hansen Ready Mix, HD Supply, AMCS Fabricators, Mammoet, Lafarge and, of course, Aecon.
The event raised just over $35,000, all of which will go towards advocacy and research for better diagnostics and treatment options for prostate cancer.
