Elba Island LNG Terminal Expansion

Elba Island LNG Terminal Expansion

Savannah, Georgia

Since 2001, Kiewit subsidiary TIC has executed over 30 projects at the Elba Island LNG Terminal, a bidirectional plant with an export capacity of 2.5 million metric tonnes per year. Located near Savannah, Georgia, this terminal connects to six major pipelines and services the Southeast and mid-Atlantic markets.

TIC performed a combination of preassembly, tear down, refurbishment, newbuild and shipment preparation services for the 330 modules that make up LNG trains 1-10. By applying best practices gained from one train to all subsequent work throughout the project, schedule efficiency increased by 40 percent and productivity improved by 5 percent on trains 5-10.

Major marine and heavy-civil construction work included a storm surge wall, breasting dolphins, mooring dolphins and a 1,050-linear foot combined-wall bulkhead system. Maintenance, repair, shoreline protection, dike relocation and dredging projects were also performed by TIC.
