Mewbourn Gas Processing Plant

Platteville, Colorado

Kiewit subsidiary, TIC, completed five contracts at the Mewbourn Gas Processing Plant within a five-year span to support the clients’ plan to expand and enhance their natural gas gathering and processing services in the North Denver-Julesburg Basin area.

TIC performed various scopes to increase plant capacity to from 100 to 160 million standard cubic feet per day, making it the second largest of the clients’ natural gas processing plants in the basin. Initial scopes included site work and installation of foundations for the equipment, buildings, transformer pad and piperack. As the project progressed, TIC was contracted to perform all major disciplines to complete the upgrade of the hydrocarbon processing systems. Major equipment included the replacement of the demethanizer internals and a new triethylene glycol skid, refrigerant compressor and flare.

Two years later, TIC was contracted to perform two small capital projects. First, the installation of a new thermal oxidizer, combustion air blower, knockout drum and pump, plus all associated electrical, instrument and piping tie-ins. While on site, TIC completed an additional two-month project to install two new cabin air filtration systems. The self-cleaning filtration systems were installed on two solar generators to allow for continual engine operations during cold, wet weather.
