San Francisco, California

Kiewit subsidiary, Cherne, was selected as the primary general contractor for the Rodeo Renewable Fuels project. To meet the growing demand for renewable fuels, the client converted a refinery into one of the world’s largest renewable fuels plants, which produces 800 million gallons per year of renewable diesel, gasoline and sustainable aviation fuel. This project will reduce the plant’s greenhouse gas emissions by 50% to enable the client to meet local regulations and standards.

Cherne and Kiewit subsidiary, Mass Electric Construction Co.’s scope included constructing new facilities for renewable feedstocks handling, pre-treatment and treatment, reconfiguring hydro-processing, utilities and tankage.
