The Maryland Energy Impact Partners (MEIP), which includes Kiewit Development, Plenary Americas, Kiewit Power Constructors and Honeywell, is partnering with the University of Maryland to deliver the NextGen Energy Program. This program will upgrade and modernize the university’s energy system, providing for decades of efficient and sustainable energy. With a large upfront investment in campus infrastructure, the program is anticipated to significantly improve energy service on campus and lead to immediate environmental benefits. As part of the capital improvements, MEIP will provide expertise and services for a Decarbonization Strategy Development Plan. This plan will involve replacing aging infrastructure with a energy system that the university can rely on for years to come. Construction commenced in the summer of 2024, with an estimated completion date in the spring of 2027.
