The joint venture project was the final segment in the East Link Extension that will take light rail from downtown Seattle to Redmond. The alignment included 1.8 miles of double-track light rail transit infrastructure on elevated and at-grade guideway through retained cuts and fills. The work also included two at-grade stations – Overlake Village near 152nd Avenue NE, and Overlake Transit Center (terminus station) with a pedestrian bridge over SR 520 to residential areas. Station work included an integrated three-story, 320-stall parking garage and bus transit center, passenger drop off areas, and ancillary office space. The client ultimately extended the scope to include a pedestrian bridge at Microsoft (RTS Pedestrian Bridge). The Kiewit-Hoffman team was selected in part because of its proposed innovation to integrate the bus transit center into the bottom floor of the parking garage, which left a significant parcel of developable land for the client.
