East Water Purification Plant Enhancement Project
Kiewit, in partnership with its key subcontractors, is providing Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR) services to support the City of Houston (Houston Public Works) in expanding and modernizing the aging East Water Purification Plant (EWPP). The enhancement project will strengthen long-term water supply capacity, improve system resilience, and help ensure reliable drinking water for the city.
Project Overview
The City of Houston’s East Water Purification Plant Enhancement (EWPP) will construct a new treatment facility at the existing EWPP site, increasing finished water production capacity by 360 million gallons per day to support Houston’s growing water demands.
EWPP Project No. 1
Project No. 1 includes construction of the new plant and related infrastructure, including a canal pump station, water treatment trains, transfer pumping facilities, substation, liquid recycling facilities, pretreatment systems, liquid oxygen (LOX) storage and ozone generation facilities, chemical storage and feed systems, yard piping and underground utilities, electrical distribution systems, instrumentation and controls systems, civil infrastructure, including roads, sidewalks, grading, and stormwater facilities, and structural and foundation support systems.
