Nu-West Industries awarded Kiewit Mining Group the contract to provide mining services for the Conda Phosphate Operation. This operation ships over 2 million tons of high-quality phosphate ore by rail to the Conda Plant to be processed into concentrated phosphate-based fertilizers.

The contract has been renewed multiple times due to a strong relationship with the client. Consistent performance and a collaborative approach have allowed us to work closely with on-site Itafos employees to deliver mining services and equipment for phosphate ore production.

Since the original contract, Kiewit Mining Group has developed, mined and reclaimed three separate mining areas for Itafos. The mining process includes topsoil salvage and the removal of overburden through drilling and blasting; ripping; loading and hauling; and placement for regrading. Kiewit Mining Group operates multiple 40-ton front shovels and various 150–200-ton excavators to support these operations.
