Substation Project

Substation Project

Location, Confidential

Kiewit engineered, procured and constructed a new 69-kilovolt substation next an existing 69-kilovolt substation. The new substations provide expandability and future conversion to 138 kilovolts. The project scope included moving the existing 69-kilovolt transmission lines from one station to another station and the installation of a new 69-kilovolt line between the two stations.

The scope included building a new 69-kilovolt four-breaker ring station between the existing taps, providing expandability and future conversion to 138 kilovolts. The scope also included tying in the new station to the existing 69-kilovolt transmission line.

The line portion of the project consisted of rebuilding approximately 27 miles of 69-kilovolt wood poles in a rural area. There are two main segments that are 24 miles with the remaining length cutting in and out of substations.
