Weeks Marine, a Kiewit Corporation subsidiary, is delivering the first heavy construction component of the Hudson Tunnel Project for the Gateway Development Commission. The design-build scope includes modifying and stabilizing a 1,200-foot section of soil in the shallow area of the Hudson River near the Manhattan shoreline to prepare for tunnel boring operations.

The Kiewit-led joint venture, Kiewit-Ledcor Trans Mountain Partnership, expanded the terminal by adding a new dock complex with three berths, a utility dock to moor tugs, boom boats and emergency response vessels, and extending the shoreline to accommodate new equipment and facilities.

To support growing trade, DP World’s Fairview Container Terminal in Prince Rupert, BC, expanded its annual capacity from 1.6 to 1.8 million TEUs. Under a design-build contract, Kiewit delivered Phase 2B Stage 1A, adding 250,000 TEUs of capacity and expanding the container yard through major infill work.

Kiewit rebuilt a critical piece of military infrastructure, repairing and modernizing Pier 2 to for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The demolition work covered 159,000 square feet of pier structure, including the removal of timber and concrete piles, concrete slabs, 200 tons of reinforcing steel, timber pile cap beams, stringers, decking boards and 1,895 cubic yards of asphalt.
