Predictable Outcomes with Disciplined Project Delivery
From first-of-a-kind projects to plant modernization, we emphasize early contractor involvement and proven self-perform capabilities to identify and resolve constructability challenges before they affect cost or schedule. By integrating proven engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) services, we create cohesive teams from design through commissioning, optimizing construction sequencing and accelerating delivery. Our extensive supplier network, proactive procurement and in-house fabrication and modular assembly support cost control and schedule certainty. With advanced construction management tools, we provide real-time insights that keep projects safe, efficient and on budget.
Solutions Powered by Proven Experience
Kiewit’s leadership in the power industry — more than 125,000 MW of installed capacity across North America over the past 40 years — enhances the expertise and value we bring to nuclear projects. Our deep understanding of thermal efficiency, heat recovery and complex power system integration directly supports the requirements of advanced nuclear facilities. We bring proven experience coordinating civil, structural, mechanical, electrical and control system scopes for large-scale power projects, including critical site infrastructure such as foundations, cooling systems, water supply networks and grid interconnections.
Our relationships with original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) on combined cycle projects have served as a model for our proactive engagement in the nuclear market with advanced reactor developers and technology providers — enhancing the solutions we provide to help move the nuclear industry forward.
Breaking Ground in New Nuclear
Kiewit is more than a contractor. We serve as a trusted partner to developers, utilities, research institutions and manufacturers driving the future of nuclear energy. Our end-to-end engineering, procurement and construction capabilities support advanced reactors, small modular reactors and fuel fabrication projects as well as emerging technologies. With in-house modularization and fabrication facilities, we can help overcome supply chain challenges and streamline project delivery. Through early contractor involvement, we apply proven construction methods, best practices and lessons learned from across the energy industry to optimize design, execution, cost and schedule for complex projects.
Clients also benefit from our experience in alternative project delivery models, including engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) and Progressive Design-Build — which enhances collaboration, fosters innovation, mitigates risks and accelerates timelines from concept to completion.
Powering Up Canada’s Nuclear Future
Kiewit Nuclear Canada Corp. (KNC) is charging ahead in Ontario’s revitalized nuclear sector. At an Ontario Power Generation site, KNC is advancing its first construction work inside the protected area — a milestone that supports validation of its N286/N299 Quality Assurance Program and strengthens its position as a qualified contractor for future nuclear facility work.
At the same time, KNC has joined the Integrated Project Delivery team for Ontario Power Generation as a constructor for North America’s first small modular reactor at Darlington, a GE-Hitachi BWRX-300. From planning to constructability, the team is helping establish the framework for future SMR deployments across the country. As nuclear momentum grows, we continue to build and deliver a unified, end-to-end approach to meet North America’s evolving energy needs
