Heavy Civil & Marine Capabilities
As an industry leader in heavy civil construction, Kiewit offers expertise beyond liquefaction facilities. We have the resources to self-perform all related heavy civil and marine scopes, including site clearing, dredging, ground improvements and deep foundations, as well as material offloading mooring systems and trestle and jetty structures.
Rodeo Renewable Fuels Facility
Kiewit subsidiary, Cherne, was selected as the primary general contractor for the Rodeo Renewable Fuels project. To meet the growing demand for renewable fuels, the client converted a refinery into one of the world’s largest renewable fuels plants, which produces 800 million gallons per year of renewable diesel, gasoline and sustainable aviation fuel. This project will reduce the plant’s greenhouse gas emissions by 50% to enable the client to meet local regulations and standards. Cherne and Kiewit subsidiary Mass Electric Construction Co.’s scope included constructing new facilities for renewable feedstocks handling, pre-treatment and treatment, reconfiguring hydro-processing, utilities and tankage.
Propane Dehydrogenation
Kiewit constructed a propane dehydrogenation facility, including pipe fabrication and module assembly. The scope included 170 pipe rack modules fabricated in multiple yards and pipe fabrication facilities.
Methane Pyrolysis / Ammonia FEED
Kiewit was contracted to perform pre- and front-end engineering design studies for a 160,000 TPY carbon black facility.
