Kiewit engineered, procured and constructed this 1,250-megawatt natural gas power plant in Illinois. The facility is now operational and has the capacity to power more than 1.25 million homes and businesses supporting Illinois’ energy demand with reliable, cost-effective and lower-emissions generation.

Kiewit delivered a 2x1x1 combined cycle plant that includes two GE 7HA.02 gas combustion turbines, two heat recovery steam generators and two steam turbines. The plant uses dry cooling through two air-cooled condensers to condense turbine exhaust steam and fin fan coolers to remove heat from auxiliary systems.

The Three Rivers Energy Center is one of the cleanest, most efficient generating facilities of its kind.
