Colowyo Reclamation Project
Craig, Colorado
Kiewit is executing a full-scale reclamation of a surface mine, including final bond release for our client. The project spans approximately 14 years and covers nearly 4,000 acres of land. Our team is moving over 40 million cubic yards of regrade and topsoil, including demolition of all existing infrastructure and facilities to restore the site to its natural state.
The operation is powered by a robust fleet of heavy equipment, including a BE 495 Shovel, BE 1300 Dragline, EX 3600 Excavators, L1350 Loader, Komatsu 830E Haul Trucks and D11 Dozers. To support the local workforce and reduce the impact on surrounding communities, we have committed to hiring existing mine personnel. This approach provides continued employment and opens pathways for long-term opportunities beyond the scope of this project.
