Klamath River Renewal Project

Kiewit has been selected to be the prime contractor for the Klamath River Renewal Project. Together with our prime design partner, Knight Piésold, we’ve compiled a team of highly qualified and specialized experts to take on the challenging project.

The Project

The Klamath River Renewal Project involves the removal of four dams on the Klamath River — JC Boyle, Copco No. 1 & 2, and Iron Gate, restoring formerly inundated lands, and implementing required restoration and mitigation measures in compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.

This project is being delivered through the Progressive Design-Build (PDB) delivery model.  The PDB model allows early collaboration and problem-solving by the project owner, contractor, and designer. Following the PDB model, the project will have two phases.  The first phase, Preliminary Services, will develop project design, provide constructability and planning, and develop a guaranteed maximum price for the project. The second phase, Project Implementation, will follow through on that plan and execute the removals and restoration.

To learn more about the project, please visit the Klamath River Renewal Corporation’s website at: http://www.klamathrenewal.org/

The Team

Our team consists of Kiewit as the prime contractor and Knight Piésold as the civil prime design partner.

As an integral part of the project, the Kiewit Team will need support in completing many facets of the project scope, including:

  • Demolition / Construction Services
  • Professional Services / Consulting

  • Construction or office supplies
  • Hauling
  • Environmental Restoration / Planting
  • In-water work

We’re looking to subcontract with local businesses and organizations, disadvantaged businesses, and experienced subcontractors to supply materials and complete specialized scopes during both Preliminary Services design and Project Implementation construction phases.

Subcontracting Opportunities

There will be many subcontract opportunities on the project. Since this project is following the PDB delivery model, depending on the type of subcontract work your company wishes to perform, there will be differing timelines for when the Kiewit team will solicit and be in need of your services.

March 2022 Update:  Subcontract bid packages were advertised in December 2019, and many large subcontract packages were awarded following that round of solicitations.  Kiewit will still be looking to award several smaller bid packages as we approach construction.  Outstanding scopes of work that will be potentially awarded include:
