Marine Equipment and Yards
Kiewit’s industry-leading marine fleet is purpose-built to tackle the most demanding marine construction, dredging and coastal resilience projects. We continually invest in new vessels and modernize existing assets to deliver safe, sustainable and schedule-driven results.
The D.B. Bob Wilson
Kiewit’s marine fleet is evolving — and the D.B. Bob Wilson is leading the way. As our first hybrid-powered derrick barge, it reflects our commitment to smarter, more sustainable construction on the water.
Marine Fleet
Our company-owned and maintained marine fleet is built for versatility, scale and performance. From dredges to barges, we invest in new vessels and upgrade existing assets with a strong focus on safety, efficiency and sustainability. It’s how we deliver consistent results on complex marine projects across North America.
Marine Cranes
Our diverse inventory of fully-revolving floating cranes ranges in size from 90 to 700 tons and varies in hull sizes and capacities. Recent additions to our fleet are three E-Cranes, which are the most energy-efficient hydraulic cranes available on the market.
Dredges
With a fleet of seven dredges — including two trailing suction hopper dredges and five cutter suction hydraulic dredges — alongside robust support equipment, we are well-positioned as industry leaders. Our dredges are capable of pumping between 3,525 and 14,003 cubic yards of material per hour, depending on the equipment and project needs. We also perform mechanical dredging using derrick barges equipped with buckets, allowing us to adapt to a range of project conditions.
Tugboats
Our tugboat fleet ranges from 800 to 4,000 HP and includes both inland and ocean-going vessels. Many are dedicated to dredge tending and are equipped with USCG-approved sanitation devices and fixed firefighting systems to enhance safety.
Barges
Our barge fleet ranges from 90’x30’ to 340’x78’ and includes both inland and load-lined deck and hopper barges. These versatile assets support material storage, dredge spoil transport, rock and sand hauling, crane operations and the movement of heavy or oversized cargo.
