Trusted Execution for Critical Missions

Kiewit Nuclear Solutions is purpose-built to meet the demands of the Department of Energy’s most important programs. Backed by 140 years of construction and engineering leadership, Kiewit’s nuclear professionals deliver fully integrated NQA-1 solutions for National Nuclear Security Administration, Office of Science and Office of Environmental Management projects.

We partner with DOE clients through every stage of the project lifecycle, optimizing cost and schedule performance for complex projects where nothing less will do.

Our mission is to provide our DOE clients with safe, high-quality projects with predictable results.

Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) Safety Significant Confinement Ventilation System Project

Kiewit constructed the largest containment fan system among DOE facilities, a modern air supply system that is designed to run continuously in unfiltered or high-efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filtration mode, necessitating NQA-1 and CGD requirements. The system provides +/- 540,000 cubic feet per minute of air to operations underground and will help ensure the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant facility can safely continue its mission of transuranic waste disposal.

Y-12 NATIONAL SECURITY COMPLEX LITHIUM PROCESSING FACILITY CMAR

As a lithium processing facility constructability partner, Kiewit teams are embedded with the client and the engineer of record to support over 240 major process equipment procurements and improve project constructability, where we have identified over $300 million in cost savings to date. In this CMAR model, Kiewit becomes a key stakeholder during early project development with the commitment to deliver cost and schedule certainty for this capital line-item project.

IDAHO NATIONAL LABORATORY/NAVAL REACTOR FACILITY SPENT FUEL HANDLING RECAPITALIZATION PROJECT

Kiewit is completing the structural steel package for this capital line item project at Idaho National Lab, involving procurement, commercial-grade dedication, final connection design, shop fabrication, delivery, on-site pre-fabrication and erection of over 17,000 tons of NQA-1 Quality Level 1 structural steel construction.

Savannah River Plutonium Processing Facility – Task Order #1

As part of Task Order #1 for the Savannah River Plutonium Processing Facility (SRPPF), Kiewit is designing and developing a new borrow pit and heavy haul road to prepare four sites within the SRPPF footprint for buildings and structures. The project also includes removing existing utilities and installing new utilities to support the buildings and structures.
