FEED Verification – Waste to H2 Plant

California

Kiewit successfully leveraged our unique subject matter expertise and engineering technology to perform a FEED verification for a California based project examining waste to H2 production. Our scope included verifying existing FEED works with associated completeness. We provided an assessment report inclusive of any recommendations for additional works to best position the project for EPC success. Kiewit identified key value engineering items and possible plot plan optimization, resulting in a cost savings of 175 MM USD for our client.

Pre-FEED – LNG Plant Heavy Hydrocarbon Removal

Texas

Kiewit conducted an innovative concept select study to tackle heavy hydrocarbon (HHC) freezing challenges for a Texas based LNG facility. The study evaluated retrofitting adsorbent technology as a potential solution for co-adsorption of water and heavy hydrocarbons within existing dehydration units. Kiewit worked in collaboration with the technology licensor and established the technical, regulatory, and economic framework required to seamlessly transition the project to FEED.

Pre-FEED – Synthetic Natural Gas Production via Biogenic CO2 and Blue Hydrogen

Wyoming

On behalf of a Wyoming based client, Kiewit carefully evaluated techno economic feasibility of an 11.84 MMscfd facility producing synthetic natural gas using biogenic CO2 and low carbon blue hydrogen generated via an Auto Thermal Reforming (ATR) process. Our pre-FEED study delivered early engineering insights to maximize the chances of success, sufficiently define the project and provide a robust basis for a follow-on FEED effort.

Feasibility Study – RNG to SAF Facility

Ontario

Kiewit evaluated techno economic feasibility to monetize RNG biogenic CO₂ into Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) using low-carbon hydrogen, Reverse Water Gas Shift (RWGS) and Fischer-Tropsch (FT) processes. Recognizing the project’s complexity, the associated risks of applying these technologies at scale, and the critical importance of proper integration, Kiewit conducted a feasibility study. This study aimed to help to demonstrate a business case for 500 BPD of SAF production in Ontario, utilizing biogenic CO2 from an existing RNG facility and low-carbon pyrolytic hydrogen, showcasing the vital role Natural Gas (NG) will play in a decarbonized future.

FEED Verification – Blue Methanol Plant

Louisiana

Kiewit supported early work for a blue methanol plant in Louisiana by conducting a comprehensive FEED validation, showcasing our deep expertise in complex energy infrastructure. The study focused on constructability, design optimization, module logistics, and value engineering opportunities—ensuring the project was positioned for efficient execution and long-term success.

Leveraging Topsoe’s SynCOR™ ATR technology, the plant is designed to produce 10,000 MTPD of blue methanol across two identical trains. Kiewit’s evaluation included geotechnical and civil site reviews, and electrical distribution analysis. The project also featured a remote tank farm, loading docks, raw water infrastructure, and CO₂ and natural gas pipelines—demonstrating Kiewit’s ability to integrate large-scale systems with precision and reliability.

Pre-FEED – Carbon Capture for LNG Facility

Louisiana

Kiewit supported a confidential client with a Pre-FEED study focused on integrating a carbon dioxide capture facility into an existing plant. The study explored multiple design concepts to collect CO₂ from six trains and then upgrade it to pipeline-quality specifications and deliver it to a nearby third-party facility.

Kiewit developed three design options and supported project permitting to guide strategic decision making. This study reflects Kiewit’s ability to navigate complex retrofit scenarios and deliver actionable insights for clients advancing carbon management solutions.

Pre-FEED – Green Methanol Facility

Texas

Summary: Kiewit partnered on a green methanol project to deliver a Pre-FEED study for a cutting-edge facility in Texas designed to produce 125,000 MTPA of green methanol. The facility would use recovered CO₂, water, and renewable electricity as feedstocks. Kiewit’s experienced project development engineering team was tasked with evaluating multiple design concepts.

The team assessed PEM electrolyzer technologies from multiple OEMs and integrated CRI’s methanol synthesis process to ensure technical viability and scalability. Kiewit developed three design options to help our client make sound investment decisions.

Pre-FEED and FEED – Renewable Diesel (RD) and Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF) Facility
