Commercial Point Vaporizer Project

Dorchester, Massachusetts

Kiewit engineered, procured and constructed a 180-million-standard-cubic-feet-per-day replacement vaporization system and a concrete dike wall within the operating Commercial Point LNG facility. This project modernized the plant and provided protection from LNG tank leaks. Working in the operating facility required a seamless interface between ongoing operations, engineering and construction. The scope of work included the installation of five water propylene glycol heaters, three vaporizers, the relocation of four LNG send-out pumps and an LNG loading facility.

Kiewit developed an execution strategy to sequence activities in order to avoid impacts on the LNG tank loading window and vaporization season. Simultaneous operations were considered during all planning and execution of work to ensure the existing facility did not experience unplanned shutdowns.

Kiewit’s foundations scope of work included 231 EA 36- and 42-inch drilled shafts for dike wall attenuation.
