Waterman Water Treatment Plant - Fairfield, Calif.
Kiewit Pacific Co., a subsidiary of Kiewit Corporation, is constructing upgrades to the Waterman Water Treatment Plant to increase its current capacity from 15 million gallons per day to 30 million gallons per day. It provides water for Fairfield and Suisun City, Califorinia.
Constructed in 1974, the original plant was upgraded in 1990 to use ozone. The project scope involves adding ozone process capacity as well as the Actiflo® clarification process equipment. In an effort to modernize the plant, many of its facilities will be completely or partially torn down and replaced.
Major quantities include 69,500 cubic yards of structural excavation; 43,000 cubic yards of structural backfill; 18,600 feet of underground piping; 17,600 feet of aboveground piping; 187,000 square feet of formwork; 8,000 cubic yards of concrete; 13,700 feet of small trenching; and 14,900 cubic yards of large trenching.
