Riverside Station - Riverside, Calif.
The Riverside County Transportation Commission awarded a $7.2 million contract to Kiewit to rehabilitate an irrigation canal through a live rail corridor. Crews constructed a box culvert, passenger platform, two steel structural towers with elevators and a steel pedestrian bridge over three mainline tracks. The project scope also included utility work, shoring and protection of the existing Union Pacific/Southern Pacific mainline tracks, and trackwork. The trackwork consisted of 2,700 feet of wood and concrete tie track with resilient fasteners and a single #15 turnout.
Work was completed in nine months, three months ahead of schedule.
