Modular Mill for Teaching and Research - Auburn, Ala.
Ibberson designed, engineered and constructed Auburn University’s new poultry and animal nutrition center, a state-of-the-art academic and research feed production facility located on Auburn’s north campus, 7 miles from the main campus.
Housed inside the 12,500-square-foot steel building, the new feed mill is comprised of nine prefabricated modules, each 40 feet long by 8 feet wide by 9 feet 6 inches high that were manufactured in Minnesota, trucked to Auburn and then assembled on site.
The research and teaching mill has a nominal capacity of 5 to 10 tph, with pelleting capacity at 2 to 5 tph. It can produce batch sizes of research feed formulations as small as 250 lbs.
The modular design is a small-scale adaptation of a commercial facility that will enhance the research and teaching capabilities of Auburn’s Poultry Science Program. The feed mill will be operated primarily by students as part of the poultry science curriculum.
More than 40 corporations donated to the facility.
