Hickam Dormitory and Hangar Complex - Honolulu, Hawaii
Built for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the $7.8 million Hickam Air Force Base Dormitory is a three-story, 38,300-square-foot building with 94 apartment units to house enlisted military personnel. The building consists of concrete pile foundations, precast decks and a structural steel roof with metal roof panels.
Construction of the $5.2 million Hickam Hangar Complex involved upgrading the fire alarm and sprinkler systems for Hangars 34 and 35. Hangar 34 primarily houses maintenance shops, offices, storage and aircraft maintenance support areas. Hangar 35 consists of two aircraft service docks and a center office module. The fire pump room was enlarged and modified to accommodate the new layout and additional pumps. All existing exterior piping was replaced with new fire protection piping and connected to the existing tank. The existing tank was refurbished, and new nozzles, controls and appurtenances were provided.
