Field Engineer

Field Engineers have an important role in helping get the job done. Depending on the project, the duties may include:

  • Preparing procedures
  • Monitoring work status
  • Prepareing job progress reports
  • Arranging for tools, materials and equipment
  • Verifying contractual requirements
  • Supervising surveyors
  • Coordinating subcontractors and suppliers
  • Learning to build work from seasoned construction personnel

Engineer/Estimator

An Engineer/Estimator’s role may include:

  • Studying contract and technical requirements
  • Analyzing job conditions
  • Preparing quantity take-offs
  • Developing comparative estimates
  • Planning work methods and develop job schedules, as part of estimating groups
  • Attending pre-bid meetings and tour jobsites

Office Engineer

Office Engineer responsibilities may include:

  • Forecasting job costs
  • Preparing basic quantity surveys
  • Tracking job schedules
  • Administering contracts, the subcontracts, and handle payment requests
  • Preparing drawings/info. needed to supplement the contract plans and specifications

All of these beginning assignments are designed to provide the experience needed to grow and assume greater responsibility. Employees may be considered for positions on a district-wide basis. Mobility and relocation is encouraged to increase possibilities for advancement.
