Market Experience

Kiewit ranks as the country's top contractor in the delivery of water supply projects, according to Engineering News-Record magazine. We've built major roller-compacted concrete, earth-fill and rock-fill dams; reservoirs; water tunnels; and canals across North America. In addition, Kiewit is a leader in the development of transmission pipelines, aqueducts and water/wastewater treatment facilities.

Over the last 15 years, Kiewit has provided procurement, construction and start-up services for more than 220 public and private water supply projects totaling more than $3.1 billion in contract revenue.

All American Canal - Yuma, AZ

The All American Canal Lining project is located 20 miles west of Yuma, Arizona in the southeast corner of California. Kiewit Pacific Co. is constructing 12.4 miles of new concrete-lined canal through Glamis sand dunes to replace the existing unlined canal at the same elevation as the existing canal.

Bakersfield Wastewater Treatment Plant #3 - Bakersfield, CA

The City of Bakersfield awarded Kiewit Pacific Co., a subsidiary of Kiewit Corporation, a $211 million project to upgrade the existing Bakersfield Wastewater Treatment Plant. To date, this project is the largest contract the City of Bakersfield has ever awarded.

Bonneville Fish Bypass - North Bonneville, WA

This award-winning project allows migrating salmon and steelhead trout to bypass the Bonneville Dam and travel safely through the Columbia River. Kiewit Pacific Co. ultimately constructed a 3,000-ft.-long, high velocity concrete chute with 25-ft.-high walls to transport fish around the dam and through a new channel outfall.

Brightwater Pump Station - Bothell, WA

Kiewit Pacific Co. was awarded the $91 million project to construct the Brightwater Influent Pump Station and associated facilities. When complete the pump station will be a 130-million-gallons-per-day influent station that can expand to 170 million gallons per day.

Cleveland Dam Seepage Control - Vancouver, BC

Protecting the quality of an active drinking water reservoir was of the highest priority during this C$17 million project to excavate material for the construction of slurry cutoff wall. An extensive pumping and settling pond system was developed by Peter Kiewit Sons to divert and treat contaminated water and prevent entry into the reservoir.

East Dam - Hemet, CA

East Dam is one of three dams constructed for the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California's Eastside Reservoir program. Holding more than 260 billion gallons of water, the reservoir will double Southern California's surface storage capacity. At 180-ft. high and 1,200-ft. wide at the base, East Dam is the longest of the three dams.
