LAX Taxiway C - Los Angeles, CA

Working in the middle of one of the busiest taxiways at the world's fourth largest airport, within 500 ft. of departing aircraft, and around live utilities were the major challenges on this $40 million project. The project involved realigning Taxiway C and lengthening Sepulveda Boulevard, an adjacent six-lane highway.

Leonard P. Zakim Bunker Hill Bridge - Boston, MA

Constructed by a Kiewit-led joint venture, this $100 million, 10-lane Leonard P. Zakim Bunker Hill Bridge is the world's widest cable-stayed structure. The new bridge, which opened to traffic in March 2003, is the highlight of Boston's multi-billion dollar "Big Dig" Central Artery/Tunnel project.

Lomas Santa Fe - San Diego, CA

Needed for safety and traffic improvements, this $17.7 million rail grade separation project involved excavating a massive 6,000-ft.-long by 28-ft.-deep trench in Solana Beach, California. The two-year project included construction of retaining walls, utility relocation, track installation, and erection of new platforms and bridge structures.

McCarran Airport Runway Reconstruction - Las Vegas, NV

The scope of work involved demolishing existing asphalt runways and taxiways, and then replacing with Portland cement concrete pavement with asphalt shoulders. Because of Kiewit’s successful schedule management and phasing and the coordination between Kiewit’s team and airport personnel, there were minimal disruptions to aircraft movement. In addition, Kiewit completed the project 69 days ahead of schedule with an excellent safety record.

Metro Gold Line - Pasadena, CA

Southern California celebrated the completion of its rail transit segment, thanks to the July 2003 on-time opening of the 13.7-mi.-long Metro Gold Line rail project connecting Los Angeles to Pasadena. The $178 million design-build project required working in an extremely narrow corridor and involved building a pedestrian bridge, stations, at-grade crossings, seismic retrofits, and several cut-and-cover tunnels.

Miami Intermodal Connector - Miami, FL

Kiewit Southern Co. completely reconstructed three miles of Lejuene Road and Northwest 21st Street. The $81 million project included the construction of 11 bridges and associated ramps to prevent airport traffic from using Lejuene road and give traffic direct access to SR-836 and SR-112.
