Hines Energy Complex Power Block IV

Hines Energy Complex Power Block IV - Bartow, FL

Continuous rapid growth in Florida’s Polk County has led to significant electricity demand for one of our nation’s fastest growing states. After successfully completing Hines Energy Complex Power Block III, Progress Energy awarded the 582-megawatt Hines Energy Complex Power Block IV to the same joint venture.

Kiewit participated in this joint venture to engineer, procure, construct, commission and start-up the Hines Energy Complex’ fourth power block. The facility’s fourth power block is fueled by natural gas and light fuel oil with two GE 7FA combustion turbines, a GE D11 reheat steam turbine, and two Nooter/Erikson heat recovery steam generators equipped with emissions controls.

The Hines Power Block IV was completed on schedule, and is large enough to supply power to approximately 365,000 homes.
