Tioga Gas Plant Expansion

Tioga Gas Plant Expansion

Tioga, North Dakota

Kiewit subsidiary, TIC, completed the expansion of this gas processing facility, converting the existing lean oil absorption plant into a cryogenic gas processing plant that doubled production capacity and allowed greater separation of natural gas liquids. This project ultimately increased the gas plant’s production capacity from 100 to 250 million cubic feet per day, making it one of the largest natural gas processing and fractionation facilities in North Dakota. The expansion also improved facility efficiency and reduced the amount of natural gas flared at the plant from 25% to as low as 15%.

TIC’s scope included removal of the existing flare system, foundations, final grading, paving, piping, insulation, fireproofing, erection of the pre-fabricated steel pipe rack and buildings, and installation of a new flare system and large equipment. Complexities on the project included a tight site footprint at an active operating facility as well as blizzard conditions and sub-zero temperatures.
