Mt. Vernon Ethanol Project - Mt. Vernon, IN

The first in Indiana for Aventine, the $232 million Mount Vernon Ethanol project is located near the Ohio River in Mount Vernon. Kiewit is performing construction at a greenfield site on nearly 100 acres of former farm field adjacent to the Ports of Indiana. When complete, the plant will produce 113 million gallons per year of corn-based ethanol.

The project was uniquely designed and constructed to allow for future expansion, effectively doubling the capacity of the plant to 226 million gallons per year of corn-based ethanol. The initial scope of work included the completely rerouting the Port of Indiana’s existing main entrance road. At completion, the project will contain 90,000 feet of piping, 168,000 feet of conduit and 1,400 tons of steel.

With more than 300,000 hours worked so far without a recordable accident, the project employed about 500 personnel during the peak construction period, including both direct hire craft and subcontractors.
