Market Experience
From exploration to refining, Kiewit has provided construction services to the oil and gas industry for nearly a half century. We are proud to be a partner with international, U.S. and Canadian oil and gas firms working to develop the world's energy sources. Through our subsidiary Kiewit Offshore Services, Ltd., we fabricate large, complex offshore oil production platforms at our 400-acre fabrication facility in Ingleside, Texas. We've built state-of-the-art fixed and floating structures for most of the world's major oil companies. We have extensive experience in the fabrication, erection and construction of offshore jackets and decks; concrete gravity base structures; oil and gas processing units; well heads, flow lines and flow stations; pipelines and compressor stations; and enhanced oil-recovery facilities.
Kiewit Energy Group Inc., a Kiewit subsidiary, was formed to focus on three main market sectors: petroleum refining, oil sands opportunities in Canada, and liquefied natural gas projects. With offices in Houston and Calgary, Kiewit Energy Group's mission is to provide on-time, within-budget project delivery for its energy sector clients. For the last 15 years, Kiewit has completed more than 150 projects for the oil and gas industry valued at nearly $1.9 billion.
The SAGD plant was an EPC project to construct a steam-assisted gravity drainage (SAGD) pilot facility designed for an output of 3,000 barrels-per-day. The team self-performed the grading, piping, concrete foundations, electrical, module fabrication, instrumentation and module setting. The project peaked at 200 craft and worked more than 500,000 hours without a lost-time incident.
A Kiewit-led joint venture constructed the second phase of the 22,000-barrels-per-day (BPD), steam-assisted gravity drainage (SAGD) EPC project. The scope of work included a central plant facility, well pads and pipeline as well as a featured 85-megawatt turbine, a generator, a heat recovery steam generator and a once-through steam generator.
Kiewit was awarded the $57 million Pine Bend II project as part of a larger $350 million project to produce ultralow-sulfur diesel fuels and convert diesel fuel to gasoline. Completed in April 2006, the project was completed on time.
The $232 million Mount Vernon Ethanol project is located near the Ohio River in Mount Vernon. When complete, the plant will produce 113 million gallons per year of corn-based ethanol.
Constructed by a Kiewit-led partnership, this liquefied natural gas terminal is the first constructed in Canada. It will be commissioned in 2008. The jetty will span 300 metres offshore and will be equipped to receive liquefied natural gas from the largest tankers in the world.
Completed in February 2008, the $25 million Blind Faith project was a platform project designed for the Blind Faith Field in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico. Kiewit Offshore Services, a subsidiary of Kiewit Corporation, performed a single lift and set of 7,400 tons topside.
