This $75.3 million, 240-megawatt project was built in only 22 months from design to start-up. The gas-fired combined-cycle plant includes a 170-megawatt dual fuel combustion turbine generator, a 75-megawatt steam turbine generator and a 900,000-lb./hr. heat recovery steam generator.

Santa Rosa Energy Center – Pace, FL

Gilbert Southern Corp. beat three project milestones to finish this 250-MW power plant six months early. The fast track project was designed by Kiewit Power Engineers Co. and features a combustion turbine generator, steam turbine generator and three-pressure heat recovery steam generator. The plant is capable of producing both electrical and steam energy.

Los Medanos Energy Center – Pittsburg, CA

Kiewit Pacific Co. provided site grading and pile driving for this 500-MW combined-cycle cogeneration plant. Following the site and foundation work, Kiewit Power Constructors Co. and Kiewit Power Engineers Co. provided engineering, procurement and construction for the complete facility.

Valley Generating Station Repowering – Sun Valley, CA

In October 2001, Kiewit Power Constructors Co. was selected to engineer, procure and construct a new generating station for the Los Angeles Department of Water & Power. The project is the first in a multiyear plan to replace an outdated fleet of facilities. The award-winning station is a 500-MW, two-on-one, dual-fuel power generating facility.
