Kiewit ranks as the country’s top contractor in the delivery of water supply projects, according to Engineering News-Record magazine. We’ve built major roller-compacted concrete, earth-fill and rock-fill dams; reservoirs; water tunnels; and canals across North America. In addition, Kiewit is a leader in the development of transmission pipelines, aqueducts and water/wastewater treatment facilities.

Over the last 15 years, Kiewit has provided procurement, construction and start-up services for more than 220 public and private water supply projects totaling more than $3.1 billion in contract revenue.

Pleasant Grove Wastewater Treatment Plant – Roseville, CA

In May 2000, Kiewit Pacific Co. was selected to construct this $98 million, 12 MGD water treatment plant. The project consists of 31 structures, including an administration building, three oxidation ditches, four secondary clarifiers, two waste-activated sludge tanks, a solids handling basin, a chlorine contact basin, filter building, chemical feed building and influent pump station.

Lake Mead - Intake No. 2 – Las Vegas, NV

A Kiewit-led joint venture was selected in December 1997 to construct a key component of the new $2.2-billion water delivery and treatment system for the Las Vegas valley. This $83-million project involved constructing a 12-ft.-dia. intake shaft positioned 240 ft. below Lake Mead&rsqo;s surface, capable of handling 600 million gallons of water per day.

South Bay Water Reclamation Plant – San Diego, CA

This $89 million project involved the construction of a 15-million-gallon-per-day water reclamation plant and process facilities for the 2.9 million people in the San Diego area. Just months after award, the client doubled the plant’s capacity and selected the on-site Kiewit Pacific Co. team to handle the additional work.

Olivenhain Dam – Escondido, CA

As North America&rsqou;s largest roller-compacted concrete (RCC) dam, the $134.8 million Olivenhain Dam project is part of an overall $750 million emergency water storage program. Kiewit Pacific Co. completed the dam in October 2002, nearly three months ahead of schedule. The team set world RCC production records in the process.
