Kiewit Western Co. and Tpac Precast, subsidiaries of Kiewit Corporation, provided sitework, precast and cast-in-place concrete services for the new Cardinals Stadium, home of the NFL's Arizona Cardinals, as well as the annual Fiesta Bowl, Super Bowl XLII and other events.

The contract involved providing precast seating for the arena, as well as all structural concrete, structural slabs and slabs on grade. Structural concrete work included four 170-ft.-tall horseshoe-shaped supercolumns to support the roof structure. The roof was constructed on the stadium floor, cabled through slots in the columns and hoisted into place during a three-day operation.

Unique to this 63,500-seat stadium is its roll-out field, also built by Kiewit. The field lies on a concrete tray that glides along rails so it can be retracted from the stadium to an outside area, allowing for rodeos and other events.

Kiewit's work began on July 14, 2003 and was completed in August 2005. The Arizona Cardinals inaugural kickoff was in fall 2006.
