Cost Estimating
Kiewit has over a century of experience in self-performing and tracking operations. This experience assists in the development of precise budgets reflecting the project's specifics and conditions. Accurate estimates begin with an understanding of the scope of work. We develop detailed quantity take-offs of each project component to assure we understand what needs to be built. Our extensive estimating database provides "real world" production data. Kiewit's project control systems also ensure that the construction budget and schedule reflect user requirements.
Schedule Systems
Kiewit understands the importance of accurate and realistic project schedules. We use a multitude of scheduling tools, including 90-day, three-week and daily schedules. Kiewit uses the Critical Path Method of scheduling to track project status and milestones. On every project, daily scheduling meetings are held to communicate efficient use of resources. Our schedule systems enable us to spot problems and devise a recovery plan before the critical path is impacted. Our flexible approach to project scheduling is equally suited to simple or complex projects.
Accurate Project Reporting
At Kiewit, knowing your costs is a condition of employment. This mentality is crucial to delivering projects under budget. Our tracking systems and procedures provide an accurate snapshot of a project's progress and enable us to immediately recognize and respond to challenges as they arise. Reports in DCAA-auditable format are provided which document cost versus budget, labor expended and procurement status. These reports can be customized to meet your specific needs.
Procurement Management
Kiewit's procurement policy is to obtain the best value for all project components. Consistent with this policy, we obtain a minimum of three quotes for most supplies and services. Subcontractors must sign Kiewit's subcontract agreement, which binds them to project requirements and specifications, as well as to our rigorous safety, quality and environmental programs. Finally, all subcontractors are overseen by an on-site Kiewit manager to ensure that safety, quality and schedule goals are achieved.
