This project involves the demolition of 176 spans and the rehabilitation of 86 spans of an elevated-rail viaduct that connects Jamaica to downtown Brooklyn. Crews will complete demolition and replacement work in 36-hour windows over 36 weekends.
O'Hare Runway 9L-27R Paving – Chicago, IL
As part of a modernization program at O'Hare International Airport, a Kiewit-led joint venture was awarded a $62 million project to construct Runway 9L-27R. The project includes constructing a full-length parallel taxiway and associated high-speed exit and crossover taxiways between the parallel taxiway and the runway.
Willis Avenue Bridge – Manhattan, NY
Age, heavy traffic and the effects of weather led to the New York City Department of Transportation’s decision to replace the Willis Avenue Bridge with a new swing bridge. The $612 million project includes construction of the new bridge and approaches as well as demolition of the existing bridge when the new bridge is open to traffic.
Hellgate Line Catenary Modifications – Bronx and Westchester Counties, NY
The rehabilitation of eight segments of catenary lines from New Rochelle to Sunnyside Yard includes installing 1.5 million pounds of miscellaneous and structural steel to support 15 miles of registered track. Crews will also install 132 new structures around bridges to make the wire meet the track's curve criteria.
