Market Experience

DART - Central Business District Project - Dallas, TX
While working in a narrow corridor in downtown Dallas next to pedestrian and vehicular traffic, Gilbert Texas Construction, L.P. finished this $58.6 million, 7,000-ft. light rail project through downtown Dallas in November 1996. The project involved utility relocation, street and sidewalk reconstruction, installation of light-rail track and construction of passenger stations.
I-40 and I-27 Interchange - Amarillo, TX
Gilbert Texas Construction, L.P. value-engineered a top-down reconstruction plan for the I-40/I-27 Interchange, which involved working above more than 20 active railroad tracks. This fast-track, $35 million project consisted of reconstructing and widening 1.5 mi. of roadway for the Texas Department of Transportation.
DFW Taxiway K - Dallas/Forth Worth Airport, TX
Over a 13-year period, Kiewit has constructed $132 million worth of taxiways, runways and terminals at the DFW Airport. In June 1995, we completed reconstruction of the $2.2 million Taxiway K project. This taxiway, a major eastside artery, involved reworking the subgrade and demolition and removal of 15,000 sq. yd. of 17-in.-thick concrete taxiway.
DFW Automated People Mover - Dallas/Forth Worth Airport, TX
Constructed primarily from midnight to 6 a.m. in just 21 months, this $23 million portion of the Dallas/Fort Worth Airport Automated People Mover System involved 6,000 ft. of elevated guideway, substructures and superstructures at Terminals A and C. This challenging work was performed during on going airport operations.
Salt Draw Creek I-20 Emergency Bridge Repair - Pecos, TX
This $3.6 million project provided emergency repair to the east- and westbound I-20 bridges in just 56 days. Using vast resources, proper staffing and equipment, Gilbert Texas Construction, L.P. was able to repair the bridges 10 days ahead of schedule and restore traffic to this major trucking route.
Beartooth Highway Emergency Repairs - Red Lodge, MT
Beartooth Highway serves as a vital link to the western route of Yellowstone Park. A rain-on-snow event in mid-March 2005 caused the road to be heavily damaged. Under a $15.2 million design-build contract, Kiewit Western Co. completed reconstruction of 12 mi. of the highway in just 16 weeks.
