DJ Power Partners Announces Wyoming Power Plant Projects
April 8, 2008
Lenexa, KS — DJ Power Partners, a joint venture between Kiewit and TIC-The Industrial Company, recently signed a contract with PacifiCorp for the full engineering, procurement, construction and startup of a new dry flue gas desulfurization (FGD) system and baghouse at PacifiCorp’s Dave Johnston Power Plant near Glenrock, Wyo. This substantial FGD project is the first between DJ Power Partners and PacifiCorp.
Work will be completed on PacifiCorp’s Dave Johnston Units 3 and 4, two existing 230- and 330-megawatt coal-fired units. The Babcock & Wilcox Company will supply the FGD systems for each unit, including absorber areas and a common reagent preparation system. Installation of the new emission control equipment will result in a decrease of sulfur dioxide and particulate matter emissions from the two units, reducing the plant’s environmental impact. Completion of the project will satisfy both a MidAmerican Energy Holdings Company merger commitment and the expected Wyoming best available retrofit technology requirements. Construction on the project is scheduled to begin in 2008. Unit 3 is expected to be put into operation in 2010 and Unit 4 in 2012.
