Kiewit Offshore Services personnel have been instrumental in constructing some of the largest and most complex offshore projects over the last 20 years.
With a peak employment of more than 1,000 personnel, a Kiewit-led joint venture is engineering, procuring and constructing this 18-module, 11,000-tonne topsides at its Newfoundland fabrication facilities. The topsides will be integrated with a hull and turret for a projected “sail away” completion in July 2005.
In November 2002, Kiewit Offshore Services, Ltd. loaded Samedan Mari-B, a gas production platform, on the world's largest barge. This $59 million, 18-month project involved fabrication and commissioning of a 15,000-ton jacket and 5,000-ton topsides with the jacket, piling and deck located 800 ft. deep in the water.
In October 1987, a Kiewit-led joint venture completed fabrication of the world's tallest production platform. Located in the Gulf of Mexico, the Bullwinkle jacket was fabricated in 14 sections and stands 1,615-ft. tall.
Completed in February 2008, the $25 million Blind Faith project was a platform project designed for the Blind Faith Field in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico. Kiewit Offshore Services, a subsidiary of Kiewit Corporation, performed a single lift and set of 7,400 tons topside.
