From 1984 to 2000, in partnership with another firm, Kiewit operated in the offshore fabrication market as Gulf Marine Fabricators and Bullwinkle Constructors. This partnership completed several successful projects, including the 1,350-ft.-deep Bullwinkle Jacket, the world's largest oil-production platform.
In September 2000, Kiewit sold its partnership interest in the existing fabrication facility. Encouraged by past oil and gas industry clients, Kiewit formed Kiewit Offshore Services, Ltd. (KOS) in 2001 and constructed a new state-of-the-art fabrication facility to serve this important market.
Today, KOS builds a full range of offshore facilities from small platforms, modules, suction piles and tendons to large deepwater projects. With resources that include talented and experienced personnel, in-depth market knowledge and a vast equipment fleet, KOS is uniquely qualified to handle any size project.
