Buckskin Mining Company is located 10 miles north of Gillette, Wyoming within the Southern Powder River Basin. The Buckskin mine has a current capacity of 27 million tons per year and delivers its coal to numerous customers across the United States.
Established in 1989, Walnut Creek has a capacity of more than 2 million tons of lignite per year. The mine produces and hauls the fuel to the nearby Twin Oaks power plant, providing an excellent energy source in East Texas.
Located in the heart of Sweetwater County, Wyoming, this is the largest, by area, permitted surface mine in the United States. It is a complex multi-pit mine with a capacity of more than 3.5 million tons per year. The facility employs the latest high-production equipment to produce coal that is uniformly high in quality.
Operating since 1970 in Big Horn County, Montana, Decker Coal Company is located in the northern Powder River Basin. Under the management of Kiewit Mining Group, Inc., the mine continues to be a modern and productive surface facility that produces economical fuel for today's demanding energy market.
The 11 pits that made up Rosebud Coal Sales Company yielded 32 million tons of coal during its 40-yr. history. As reclamation efforts evolved, many innovative techniques were developed to complete reclamation of 4,000 acres. As a result, Kiewit has helped shape the current industry and state standards and guidelines for post-mining reclamation.
