Learning how to estimate will be a key element in your career with Kiewit. Developing estimators assists us in getting the right work at the right price.
Who’s the Boss?
The Estimating Manager drives the process, with a Sponsor and Lead Estimator responsible for the accurate completion of each estimate. You may work for several different Sponsors and Lead Estimators, which will help you to learn different aspects of this key component.

- Review and understand contracts, plans and specifications
- Ensure accurate take-offs
- Review past costs
- Develop Direct Items/Indirect Items
- Understand Kiewit estimating program, procedures and forms
- Equipment identification and scheduling
- Go on site visits
