Creighton Prep Heider Center

Creighton Prep Heider Center - Omaha, NE

The Creighton Prep Heider Center project consisted of adding a 78,000-square-foot sports and recreation facility to the east side of the existing school building. The addition is one of the largest, most comprehensive high school athletic venues in the region.

The new structure includes a three-court gymnasium that seats 2,200 students. It also has a 2,500-square-foot weight room facility, three state-of-the-art technology classrooms and a baseball stadium with concourse, concrete seating areas, a press box and maintenance facility. This addition/renovation is the biggest upgrade to the school since its construction in the 1950s.

Kiewit Building Group used the expertise of its staff and subcontractors to develop alternative solutions to the proposed design for the mechanical system. The team also coordinated with the architect to employ alternative exterior facade schemes to maximize the client’s budget and not take away from the building’s aesthetic appeal. The team performed an analysis of materials used in the building to see if substitutions could be made to cut down on costs and maintain function.
