Healey Falls GS Expansion
To decrease the cost of hydroelectric power and increase the demand for service, Peter Kiewit Sons Co. was awarded the bid-build contract to expand the Healey Falls Generating Station. Located about 15 kilometers north of Campbellford, the generating station will have a new unit in a spare bay inside the existing hydroelectric power plant once complete.
A-25 Bridge and Highway
To improve public transportation between Montreal and the North Shore as well as provide an alternate route for freight transportation, Kiewit is partnering with Parsons to design and build the extension of Autoroute 25, Quebec’s first public-private partnership project in the transportation market. The scope of work involves constructing 7.2 kilometers of a new four-lane highway and a six-lane cable-stayed bridge.
Canaport LNG Terminal
Constructed by a Kiewit-led partnership, this liquefied natural gas terminal is the first constructed in Canada. It will be commissioned in 2008. The jetty will span 300 metres offshore and will be equipped to receive liquefied natural gas from the largest tankers in the world.
Cartier Wind Energy
Scheduled for completion in December 2012, a Kiewit-led partnership will supply cranes for the erection of GE 1.5-megawatt (MW) wind turbines with a total capacity of 740 MW. Located across six wind farms, two Manitowoc 16000 cranes and one Manitowoc 2250 crane will be used to perform the work.
Chaudiere Bridge Rehabilitation
Construction Kiewit Cie, a subsidiary of Kiewit Corporation, performed the work for this $13.5 million project, which included widening the eastbound side of the bridge, adding a new support arch to create room for another traffic lane and rehabilitation of the existing 132-metre structure.
Diavik Diamond Mine
Lac de Gras Constructors, a Kiewit-led joint venture, completed three contracts from January 2000 to March 2003 to construct portions of this diamond mine south of the Arctic Circle. A major feature of the project was the 3.9-km. water retention dike that encircles the diamond deposits – the first dike of its kind constructed in Canada.
