Careers Support How To Guide

Thank you for your interest in Kiewit. Below is a detailed guide to using and navigating through the Careers section of our website. This guide outlines:

Kiewit offers you a variety of different options to help you get started with your career search. The following links will assist you in your search:

Conducting Career Searches

  1. A basic search

A basic search allows you to search for open positions by keywords located within the job posting title and descriptions, by job ID and by selected date ranges of when a position became available on the website. A basic search also lets you enter a specific job opening ID and directly access a posting without having to perform an advanced search.

  2. An advanced search

An advanced search gives you multiple options to refine your career search. These options include:

    • Keywords: Search against job titles and descriptions. For additional tips on "Keyword" searches, click on the "Search Tips" link.
    • Locations: Search against various locations within the US. Your search can be as broad as the country or as narrow as a specific city. Try to start your search at a regional or multi-state level and narrow down from there If you are interested in searching for openings in Canada, visit our Kiewit Canada website.

The following states comprise the Northeastern, Southern, Central and Western Regions in the Location Search:

      • Northeastern: Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Maryland, Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia
      • Southern: Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, West Virginia
      • Central: Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, North Dakota, Nebraska, Ohio, South Dakota, Wisconsin
      • Western: Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, New Mexico, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Washington, Wyoming
    • Type of work: From the menu, select one or more from the list given of the desired type of work.
    • Districts: Search for positions currently being offered within specific Kiewit districts.
    • Level of work: From the menu, select Entry, Experienced or Intern/Co-op level.
    • Dates: Narrow or broaden your search by its posting date.
    • Full/Part-Time or Regular/Temporary employment: All Intern/Co-op positions are temporary employment.

To search all postings, leave all search options blank. To search for multiple values against locations, type of work or districts, hold down the Ctrl key (or Command key for Macs) while clicking the desired options. Search results will display eight positions per page, with the most recent on top. Use the Next button to advance to more job positions.

Creating a Candidate Profile

While all candidates are encouraged to register with Kiewit Careers and complete a candidate profile first, this is not necessary to begin a career search. Your candidate profile is an electronic form that contains relevant information such as contact information, education and employment history, competencies and attributes. Once you have logged in to your profile, you will receive an email confirming the activation of your account. Please register now to apply online or to create your candidate profile. Email is our primary method of communication with you and is required for your application.

Applying for a Job

Completing a candidate profile is the first step to finding a position that best suits you. More importantly, by creating a profile you enable our recruiters to have access to your information such as your skill set and work history. There are three ways to look for employment at Kiewit:

  1. Apply for a specific opening

Search our current openings using your preferred career search criteria to show the available positions and apply online immediately.

  2. Submit your resume for future consideration

If the opening you are looking for is not available at this time, complete and submit your candidate profile for future consideration by our recruiters. You can log in at any time and update your profile or use it to apply to specific job openings.

  3. Create a Job Search Agent

If you do not find a current job opening and would like to have Kiewit send you a notification when a position opens that matches your search criteria, create a Job Search Agent. The Job Search Agent allows you to create and save up to five advanced searches that meet your job search preferences.

Once you save your Job Search Agent, you will receive a notification on your career home page each time a new position opens that meets your criteria. To be immediately notified about positions that meet your criteria, enter your email address when saving the agent. Remember to save a search as a Job Search Agent, click on "Save Search" before running the search.

The Kiewit.com career site has been designed for individuals not currently employed by Kiewit or any of its subsidiaries. Kiewit employees should contact their local Human Resources representative regarding internal employment opportunities. All employment openings for Kiewit and its subsidiaries are posted to Kiewit.com.
